France lost mainly because Great Britain had one of the strongest navies in the world. This would also really help Great Britain in a blockade that France set up later on. In 1806, Napoleon entered the German city of Berlin and conquered it. At this point, France had conquered a good portion of Western Europe and Napoleon was at the peak of his career. Now only Great Britain stood in France’s way of making a great empire. Instead of attacking Great Britain directly, France set up a naval blockade around it to starve them into surrendering and also set up an embargo on British products that all of France’s allies had to comply with.
